Elaine Denny

Dissertation Fellow
UC San Diego

Elaine K. Denny is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Merced. At a macro level, Dr. Denny studies how insecurity and resilience affect political behavior. At a micro level, she explores the psychological links between stressors, cognitive load, and political decisions, as well the conditions affecting political persuasion and susceptibility to misinformation. Her dissertation studies why vulnerable populations frequently are less likely to be politically active than their wealthier or more secure counterparts – and what strategies may mitigate these effects.
